RaijinRock is passionate about the kick-ass element of rock music. It could be Paul Revere and the Raiders begging, “Let Me” or the Replacements lamenting, “I Don’t Know.” It could be Fleetwood Mac asking, “What Makes You Think You’re the One” or My Chemical Romance warning, “Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back.” It’s rock music at its most fundamental. Memorable hooks and chunky riffs. Gorgeous melodies and achingly uplifting choruses.
Scorching brutality? Why not?
Drama? For sure.
Where can one find such music in the year 2022? Well, lots of places, to be honest – Scandinavia, the UK, sometimes even the US of A. But no country is carrying the flame quite like Japan, a country unlike any other on the planet in most ways, including rock music. The number of great bands is staggering; the level of virtuoso musicianship is ridiculously high; the quality of the songwriting is at a level that rivals the glory days of the late Sixties and early Seventies. New releases come fast and furious, so if you love a band, chances are you won’t have to wait long for new product. Oh, and the number of kick-ass women or women-fronted bands is unrivaled anywhere else in the world.
RaijinRock is dedicated to sharing the love of rock music from Japan and bringing it to a wider audience. Comments and suggestions welcome.
